Slimming Diet Foods – Thoughts
When looking into health issues relating to weight, medics take note of our Body Mass Index. A BMI ranging from 18.5 to 25 indicates a healthy height to weight ratio. Above twenty five, and we have a problem with our weight. Above 30, and we join the category of obesity, moving into morbid obesity above 40.
A simple calculation can be done to work out your BMI. Take your height in metres and your weight in kilos. Take your metric height and square it. Then divide the answer by how many kilos you weigh.
For instance – say you’re 1.55 metres tall and you weigh 78 kilos, your index would be 32.5. The above illustration plainly shows that with those stats you would be designated obese.
Unless we restrict highly calorific food to high days and holidays, the weight will stay put! We can lower our fat reserves (and therefore our weight) if we trim down our portion sizes and stick to more natural foodstuffs.
Don’t be tempted by miracle diets that promise massive weight loss in no time at all. So stay away from programs that restrict males to 1,400 daily calories and females to 1,000. Radical weight reduction can result, but it’s usually very short-lived!
Healthy dieting that will make you fitter for life can take months. Cut back your calorie consumption to 75 percent of what you eat now, and you should see a few pounds come off every month. This isn’t high-speed dieting, but over twelve months it could add up to a great deal.
Fat-laden food tends to contain the highest calories. Lower your intake of saturated fat then, and you achieve a noticeable reduction in calories. Instead, eat plenty of fruit and vegetables, and increase the amount of whole grains in your diet. Making these changes will help to prevent any re-entry into the obesity category.
It’s not worth saving calories up for two meals a day. You’re likely to get too hungry, and then grab a calorie-rich snack! The opposite is in fact more appropriate for weight loss. It’s in fact more difficult to lose weight when you starve yourself. It’s much easier for the body to process food and dispel fat when it’s receiving regular high quality/low quantity food.
